OK Tumblrs, I’m going to get straight to the point and say, I HATE TO LOVE Lady Gaga and Beyonce’s new video “Telephone”.

OMG! When I first watched the video I said to myself, “The concept of this video has absolutely NOTHING to do with what the song is saying”. It’s a 10 minute mini-movie which portrays Gaga and B as the modern day “Thelma & Louise” with a few tactics from the movie “Kill Bill”. The song, on the other hand, is basically saying that the girl is out at the club, having fun because her boyfriend didn’t want to spend time with him and now she wants him to stop calling.

“Stop callin’, stop callin’,
I don’t wanna think anymore!
I left my head and my heart on the dance floor”

Since this is a Lady Gaga video you HAVE expect some of the STRANGEST and most OUTLANDISH outfits and behaviors. The video was so over the top that MTV refused to air it. According to their website:

“The controversial video has riled the sensitivities of some people for its raunchy content, which includes lesbian kissing and a lot of boobs, not to mention parental-advisory-worthy lines”

MTV STOP IT! I’ve seen you air worst things then this. If you can air Madonna you can definitely air Gaga. Let’s not forget the kiss Madonna and Britney Spears shared on your award show in 2009. If you want to get technical not only did she kiss Britney she also kissed Christina Aguilera and that was on live television. LIVE TELEVISON MTV!

 

In the beginning Gaga is thrown in jail and stripped. As the guards,who would be considered “cougars”, were walking out one said to the other “I told you she didn’t have a d**k.” SERIOUSLY GAGA! For those of you who don’t know that line was a response to rumors that surfaced last summer about Gaga being a hermaphrodite.

NO! WAIT!I have more, the wardrobe in this video was one of a kind. During the scene when Gaga is stripped down she climbs the cell bar wearing nothing but torn stockings and pasties. Can somebody say Janet Jackson, or maybe we should say Lil’ Kim. There’s also a part in the video when she is wearing cigarette glasses while sharing a kiss with another female. Might I add the cigarettes were smoking, LITERALLY! The soda cans as rollers was definitely a scene that made me hit the floor. She had the right idea when she was wrapped in caution tape because sometimes you just don’t know how to take her or for that matter what to expect.

I’ve never seen a video that was full of product promotion. Maybe I did but it never caught my attention but this video made sure I caught all advertisement. The cigarettes, the Diet Coke soda cans and Virgin mobile cell phone. The honey bun Gaga and B shared after she got out of jail, the wonder bread and the miracle whip. Don’t forget the laptop the guard was using and the match making website the guard was on and it was so much more. That was a good look for those companies and I could only imagine how much their sales are going to increase after people view this video.

Although Beyonce looked as classy as she normally does her acting was not the greatest. OK, honestly it was HORRIBLE! In my opinion she followed the script to the very end. She didn’t have any emotion in the role so it seemed as if she was just doing it just to get it over and done with. Gaga on the other hand gave it 110% even with her dancing. She definitely stepped it up from her prior video with B,“Video Phone”. SOMEBODY PICK UP THE TELEPHONE AND TELL LADY GAGA SHE OUTSHINED BEYONCE’!

I just want someone to explain to me why was singer Tyrese in the video. It’s obvious he played the role of Beyonce’s “pimp” who I assume was supposed to be taking her money. To get back at him she poisoned him but I don’t get why everyone in the diner had to get poisoned. I guess that’s supposed to go with the Kill Bill massacre?

Even though the video was completely out of concept I would say I LOVEDit. I loved it so much I watched it as I wrote this blog. After watching it also listened to what one of my favorite youtube bloggers, Skorpion had to say about the video.

Before I go I would like to leave you with my favorite line from the video. This line was taken from the car scene after Beyonce bailed Gaga out from jail:

Gaga: “You know what they say, once you kill the cow you gotta make a burger”

Beyonce’: “You know Gaga, trust is like a mirror, you can fix it if it’s broken”

Gaga: “But you can still see the crack in that motherf**kers reflection”
